RAPID: Connecting OKC, One Ride at a Time

Oklahoma City’s northwest corridor was ready for a transformation. EMBARK’s vision for the RAPID Bus Rapid Transit line promised faster commutes, stronger connections, and a transit system built for the future. After Koch Comm developed RAPID’s bold brand identity, EMBARK trusted the team to guide the public engagement and launch strategy for their first service line in the northwest corridor. The challenge: turn a groundbreaking transit line into a community movement.

Listening to the Community

Koch Comm’s work started with the people RAPID would serve. Phase one focused on public events to gather resident feedback on proposed routes through the OKC Moves Bus Study. From multilingual materials to equity-driven outreach, every piece of the plan was designed to make the process accessible and inclusive. These outreach efforts ensured that the community’s voice shaped the service while speakers’ toolkits, media kits and targeted event planning launched the brand with alignment.

Launching a Transit Revolution

Phase two brought RAPID to life for the public. Koch Comm executed a media relations and event strategy to introduce RAPID as a reliable, modern transit option. The campaign concluded in December 2023 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a launch celebration, attended by hundreds. Media coverage spanned 78 stories, and RAPID quickly became a cornerstone of Oklahoma City’s transit system with 250,000 rides in its first seven months.

RAPID isn’t just a transit line — it’s a promise to Oklahoma City for a faster, better-connected future. With EMBARK’s vision and Koch Comm’s strategic guidance, RAPID has become a testament to what public transportation can achieve when it’s built for the community, by the community.
