Building Opportunities for Every Norman Student
For nearly 160 years, Norman Public Schools (NPS) has championed the dreams of its students and prepared them to achieve their full potential. In 2023, the district unveiled its boldest step yet: a $353.9 million bond proposal to transform education in Norman. From STEAM classrooms to a new fine arts center, the bond promised something unique for every student. But with a supermajority vote required, NPS needed the community’s attention.

NPS partnered with Koch Comm to develop an awareness campaign as dynamic as the bond proposal itself. Together, we created #VoteOnValentines – a memorable campaign encouraging the Norman community to vote on the February 14 election date. Koch Comm’s strategy highlighted bond projects like the Oklahoma Aviation Academy and multi-use esports facilities to showcase how these investments would benefit every kind of student. Through public relations efforts, digital ads and direct community outreach and Koch Comm’s careful navigation of public messaging connected Norman residents directly to the district’s mission.

A Community Rallies for Progress
The results spoke volumes. On Valentine’s Day, Norman voters turned out in force, approving the bond with 68.71% support. The campaign sparked conversations and encouraged residents to rally around a shared vision for the district’s future. This win wasn’t just about passing a bond — it was a testament to Norman Public Schools’ unwavering commitment to its students and to the power of a united community. Alongside Koch Comm’s creative partnership, NPS turned a bold vision into a victory for Norman students.
